Olive K. Ruetz, 94, of Steelville, Mo., passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville. She was born May 18, 1915, to Robert and Thankful (Johnson) Martin in Oklahoma City, Okla. In later years, she was adopted by Dr. George W. Reeves. On November 16, 1936, in Angora, Ind., she was united in marriage to Harold J. Ruetz. He preceded her in death in June of 1987. In August of 2005, Olive was crowned Ms. Missouri Nursing Home Queen in ceremonies held at the Lake. She loved to tell the story of that wonderful experience which meant so much to her. Many persons of the community will miss her kind voice and her love for history. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, David Ruetz and wife Julie of Holts Summit, Mo. and Jennifer Rogers of Jefferson City, Mo.; three great-grandsons, John, Carl and Michael Rogers; one great-granddaughter, Natalie; one sister, Lucy Odatey of the state of California; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; son, William J. Ruetz and wife, Carol. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo., with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Interment will be in the Steelville Cemetery.
