Daniel Lynn Newby, 51, of Hallsville, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at his home. Daniel was born November 15, 1958, on Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California to Donald and Ruth Douglas Newby. He was married on March 17, 1990, in Hallsville to Mary Lewis. He was a 1976 graduate of Jefferson City High School where he was active in ROTC, the band and Demolay Masonic Group. He received his nursing degree from Lincoln University. Daniel worked in the Burn Unit at University Hospital in Columbia and later was the instructor for the Prisma machine while working as a charge nurse in M.I.C.U. at Boone Hospital Center. Daniel was a member of the Masons and Hallsville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bike riding and woodworking but he especially loved to build and repair computers. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Hallsville; mother, Ruth Newby of Holts Summit; son, William Lewis and his children of Columbia; son, Bryan Lewis, wife, Jamie and their children of London, England; brothers, Donald Newby of Pine Top, Arizona, Ronald Newby of Orange Park, Florida; sister, Shirley Brunk of Jefferson City; mother-in-law, Maria Yaninas of Hallsville, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald and brother, Jewel Newby. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 14, from 6-8:00 p.m., followed by a Masonic service at the funeral home.
