Ruth C. Hoffman, 98, of Jefferson City, formerly of Chamois, died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at her home. She was born July 11, 1911, in Chamois, a daughter of Charles R. and Birdia L. (Brock) McKnight. She attended school at St. Aubert. On June 6, 1934, Ruth was united in marriage in Chamois to Elmer H. Hoffman, who preceded her in death on January 11, 1993. Ruth worked for the Oberman Factory and Lowell's Electronics Factory, both in Chamois. She volunteered with the Willing Workers from St. John's United Church of Christ in Chamois. She was a member of Capital City Christian Church in Jefferson City. Ruth was an avid reader with her dog Casey lying at her side. She also loved to bake, play the piano and travel with her daughter, Linda. She is survived by three children: Charles L. Hoffman and wife Catherine of Linn, Betty S. Haake of Jefferson City, Linda C. Hoffman of Jefferson City; one sister, Mary Godsey of Orange, California; eight grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Shirley J. Hoffman, who died in infancy in 1938; four brothers: Ted McKnight, Buel McKnight, Arch McKnight, and Raymond McKnight; and one sister, Cora Walker. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2010, at the Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Easley officiating. Interment will follow in the Deer Creek Cemetery. Expression of sympathy may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of MEYER-HILKE-MILLARD Funeral Home, 107 S.
