Agnes Marie "Pete" McCarty, 94, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on April 3, 1915, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late William and Anna Marie Pirner Pfeffer. She was a 1933 graduate of St. Peter High School. She was united in marriage on April 23, 1946, in Jefferson City to William Daniel McCarty. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1974. A homemaker all her life, Agnes worked for JC Penney for 15 years as a sales clerk. Agnes was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, St. Bridgid's Quilters, and Legion of Mary. She greatly enjoyed quilting and gardening, and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Linda McCarty, Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Leslye McCarty, Columbia; John (Laura) McCarty, Columbia; and four great-grandchildren, Turner, Trent, Travis, and Livy McCarty. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Amend and Lavenia Bondurant. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
