Carl Jerome Graessle, 75, of Hartsburg, Mo., died Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City. He was born November 13, 1934, in Jefferson City, the son of Louis Hugo and Catherine Teresa Bode Graessle. He was married May 17, 1958, in Taos, Mo., to Lorraine Mathilda Cortvrient, who survives at the home. A United States Army veteran, he was a lifelong farmer in the Hartsburg and Callaway County area. He was employed as a mechanic with Shikles Motor Co. from 1958 to 1967. Mr. Graessle was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and a member of the Men's Association; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2693; Third Degree member of Helias Council 1054 Knights of Columbus; FMHA County Committee; and was a member of the Advisory Board of MFA. Other survivors include six children, Daniel (Helen) Graessle, Imperial, Mo., Barbara (Mark) Niekamp, Holts Summit, Mo., Karen (Craig) Graessle-Strope, Hartsburg, Susan (Larry) Nodine, Jefferson City, Kent (Kristi) Graessle, Hartsburg, and Michael (Shelly) Graessle, St. Charles, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Graessle, Katherine Graessle, Jonathan Niekamp, Benjamin Niekamp, Matthew Strope, Kelly Strope, Joshua Nodine, Briana Nodine, Ryan Graessle, and Jessica Graessle; six brothers and sisters, Paul (Joan) Graessle, Wardsville, Mo., Donald Graessle, Jefferson City, Thomas (Agnes) Graessle, Jefferson City, John "Jack" (Mary) Graessle, Eldon, Mo., Mary (Urban) Brandt, Jefferson City, and Helen Graessle Odendahl, St. Louis, Mo. He was preceded in death by one brother, Philip Graessle; and two sisters, Virginia Carel and Ann Falter. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic School or St. Peter Catholic Church, both at 216 Broadway Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
