Daniel Wells Comstock Jr., 69, of Holts Summit, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center. Daniel was born January 6, 1941, in Jefferson City, a son of the late Daniel Wells and Dorothy Sophie (Huxsol) Comstock Sr. He was a 1959 graduate of Jefferson City High School. On November 2, 2002, he was united in marriage to Rama Sue (Gier) Marr, who survives at their home. Daniel owned and operated several service stations, including Comstock 66 on Williams Street, Westside Sinclair at Main Street and Dix Road, both in Jefferson City, and Northstar Station in Cedar City. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Daniel was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2693, where he was a Golden Eagle. He loved playing cards, watching NASCAR and enjoyed running the "push truck" at the old Capital Speedway in Holts Summit. He is also survived by two sons: Daniel Wells Comstock III of Jefferson City and Rodney Kent Marr of New Bloomfield; one daughter: Cathi Boss of Holts Summit; one step-daughter: Misty Lynn DeWitt of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: David Wayne Comstock and Paul Douglas Comstock. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. Murl Nash officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or to NASCAR Victory Junction.
