Angeline Veltrop

Angeline L. Veltrop, 87, of Taos, Mo., died Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Adams Street Place. Angeline was born December 14, 1922, in Elston, Mo., the daughter of the late Clarence Francis and Pauline Louise Backers Schenewerk. She was married January 3, 1940, in Linn, Mo., to Henry Louis Veltrop, who died on July 9, 1984. Mrs. Veltrop attended school at St. Martin Catholic School in St. Martins, Mo., and Sacred Heart Catholic School in Rich Fountain, Mo. She was employed at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Westphalia as a cook for 12 years and also several restaurants. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, where she was active in the RCIA program; and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia. She served as Ride Coordinator for the OATS Bus Service in the Taos area for several years. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, and quilting. Survivors include four sons, Henry (Margaret) Veltrop, Jim (Joyce) Veltrop, and Tom (Helen) Veltrop, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Gary (Charlene) Veltrop, Taos, Mo.; three daughters, Betty Schrimpf, Jefferson City, Mo.; Margie Luebbert, Eldon, Mo.; and Cathy (Gary) Scribner, Russellville, Mo.; 27 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Oscar Schenewerk and Bob Schenewerk, both of Smithton, Ill., and Bill (Donna) Schenewerk, Florissant, Mo.; and two sisters, Betty (Gary) Ohlendorf, Milstadt, Ill., and Pat (Robert) Sydnor, Troy, Mo. She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Samantha Hogan; one great-great-granddaughter, Natalie Swaim; five brothers, Stanley, Milburn, Francis, Warren, and Donnie Lee Schenewerk; one sister, Genevieve Cavender; and two sons-in-law, Levoy Luebbert and Robert Schrimpf. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, with the Rev. J. David Maher officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia. Visitation will be 2:30-6 p.m. Sunday, February 21, at St. Francis Xavier Church with a prayer service at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Wayne M. Boyer. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, 7307 Route M, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
