Raymond Puckett

Puckett, Raymond L., age 78, in St. Bonifacius, Minn., passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010, at his home. Raymond was born on August 10, 1931, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Chester C. and Hazel E. (Saucier) Puckett. Raymond was united in marriage to Rita M. VanderFeltz in Jefferson City on June 6, 1953. Raymond was employed as a professional engineer with various telephone companies from 1957 until 1986. After retiring, he served as a communications consultant for several engineering firms. He served as Commander of the American Legion in St. Bonifacius. Raymond had a knack for fixing anything and everything. He was a master gardener and fisherman. Raymond also made fishing lures in his spare time. He was very fond of Polka music, listening to it whenever he could. Raymond had a great sense of humor, keeping it up until his final days. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in St. Bonifacius and the Tennessee Squire Association. Raymond was a friend to everyone and will be deeply missed. Raymond is survived by his loving family: wife, Rita; children, Dennis, Dianne, Donna and Debra; daughter-in-law, Jan; grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, Megan, and Patrick; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Dixie Puckett of Linn, Mo.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Madeline Sutherlin of Lee Summit, Leon VanderFeltz of Jefferson City, Geraldine VanderFeltz of Westphalia, Robert and Shirley VanderFeltz of Jefferson City, David and Judy VanderFeltz of Westphalia, Becky VanderFeltz of Lexington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Hazel Puckett; sisters, Donna Mae Puckett and Mary Jane Owens; brother, David Puckett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, GG and Cecilia VanderFeltz; brothers-in-law, Edward Sutherlin, John VanderFeltz and sister-in-law, Rita Mae VanderFeltz. A Celebration of Life Mass will be officiated by Fr. David Maher at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 20, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Honorary casket bearers are Virgil VanderFeltz, Jim Lale, Chester Surface, Ron Roberson, Tom Rackers, and Ralph Brendel. His body was cremated. The family will have a private burial. Memorial contributions are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements have been handled by the Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia, Minn.
