Ludmilla Twehus

Ludmilla A. Twehus, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, at her home. She was born May 18, 1920, in Loose Creek, Missouri, the daughter of the late John Boessen Sr. and Leona (Bescheinen) Boessen Tappehorn. She was married November 17, 1936, in St. Elizabeth, Missouri, to William J. Twehus Sr. who preceded her in death on August 3, 1990. She attended school in St. Elizabeth and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the St. Ann Sodality. She worked in numerous factories until moving to Jefferson City in 1967, and then became a babysitter/homemaker. Children she babysat still call her "Grandma". Ludmilla enjoyed and loved her family, especially her grandchildren, etc. She was known for her home cooking and green thumb in gardening. She will be especially missed each Sunday as this was "family day". She is truly a Saint in Heaven now. She was one of the most kind, loving, caring and compassionate human beings on this earth. She is survived by six sons: Joe (Lenora) Twehus of Jefferson City, Ray Twehus of New Bloomfield, Jim (Ann) Twehus of Wardsville, William (Judy) Twehus of Holts Summit, Alfred (Debbie) Twehus of Centertown, and Bernie Twehus of Jefferson City; four daughters: Mary (John) Schaefer, Linda (Don) Colter, Betty (Ray) Boes all of Jefferson City and Janet (Dennis) Davidson of Hartsburg; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and her loving cat, Mr. Kitty. She is also survived by a half-sister, Martha Lee Tappehorn Bax, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: William J. Twehus Sr.; two sons: Harold Twehus and John Twehus; two daughters-in-law: Mildred Twehus and Nora Twehus; her parents: John Boessen Sr. and Leona Bescheinen Boessen Tappehorn; step-father: Herman Tappehorn; one brother: Leonard Boessen; one sister: Livinia Boessen; and two half-brothers: William Tappehorn and Herbert Tappehorn. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Msgr. David D. Cox and Fr. Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality or Sisters of St. Mary's Hospice.
