Mrs. Evelyn Endicott, age 83 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, December 24, 2010, at Heisinger Bluffs. Evelyn was born October 17, 1927, in West Plains, Mo., the daughter of John A. and Annie Proffitt Fox. She was married on January 31, 1953, in Joplin, Mo., to Charles S. Endicott, who preceded her in death on December 7, 1993. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1968, she was a 1946 graduate of Joplin High School and attended Lincoln University. Evelyn was employed as a benefit specialist with the Missouri Dept. of Conservation for 19 years prior to her retirement on August 1, 1990. She was a member, deacon, usher, and volunteer at First Christian Church; a member and past president of the Association of Retired Missouri State Employees; and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. Evelyn was also a mentor to students at East Elementary School. Evelyn enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include: two daughters, Sue Hirschman and her husband David of Jefferson City, Mo. and Kay Pettit and her husband Earl of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Ruth Santos of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two grandchildren, Kyle Hirschman of Jefferson City, Mo. and Casey Hirschman of Jefferson City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five brothers and sisters, Ruby Brown, Jim Fox, Lester Fox, Leeman Fox, and Orville Fox. Visitation will be at First Christian Church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at First Christian Church with the Reverend Donald Carter officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to First Christian Church or the Heisinger Bluff Benevolent Fund.
