Anna Laura (Eggleson) Abbott, 94, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing in Jefferson City. She was born April 13, 1916, in Johnstown, the daughter of Orland Boyd and Sarah "Sally" Ellen (Simpson) Eggleson, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the oldest of three sisters, Frances A. (Eggleson) McAllister and Marita (Eggleson) Haley, both whom have preceded her in death. Ann grew up in Butler and moved to Jefferson City where she graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1934. She met and married Archie Cranston Abbott on September 23, 1939, whom preceded her in death. Ann was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City. She enjoyed her family and friends and being a member and involved in Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), past President of the Still Hospital Guild and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Ann was an avid reader and a great cook who loved to share this talent at family gatherings. Ann is survived by three children, Gregory Cranston Abbott of Jefferson City, Barbara Ellen Huskey of Fulton, and David Allen Abbott of Jefferson City; as well as six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandson. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2010, in the chapel of First Baptist Church, 301 E. Capitol Ave., Jefferson City, MO 65101 with Senior Pastor Doyle Sager officiating. Online condolences may be extended to Anna's family at heartlandcremation.com.
