Edna A. Schepker, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010, at her home. She was born February 12, 1917, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Henry and Minnie (Kotteman) Gerhardt. On August 10, 1940, Edna was united in marriage in Jefferson City, to Albert Schepker, who preceded her in death in September 1997. Edna attended beauty school and held her license for 61 years. She worked for JCPenney for 23 years, until her retirement. She also worked at West End Beauty Shop. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph and the St. Joseph Women's Club. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family, fishing with her husband, Albert and especially with the grandkids, watching birds in the back yard, playing cards with friends, traveling, going antiquing, going to the casino and having her great-grand kids come over. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lute of Jefferson City; a son, Roger Schepker of Glenwood, Iowa; six grandchildren, Lisa Lute of Hawaii, James Lute (wife Karen) of Jefferson City, Christopher Lute of Jefferson City, Nora Schepker of Vienna, John "J.W." Schepker of Glenwood, Iowa, Mark Schepker (wife Tracy) of Glenwood, IA; five great-grandchildren, Bryan Lute, Ashley Lute, Lora Lute, Rebecca Lute and Madison Lute; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2010, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, with Monsignor Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
