Sharon Denise Stokes, 59, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born March 17, 1951 the daughter of Francis Joseph and Floretta Jean McLerran Heet Sr. On May 20, 1978, she was united in marriage in Jefferson City to Charles "Chuck" Stokes, who preceded her in death. Sharon attended Jefferson City High School and Metro Business College where she received an Associates Degree in Office Administration. She worked as a Medical Technician for MO Healthnet, a part of the Missouri Department of Social Services and also owned Prayerful Works where she made custom rosaries. Sharon was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, where she was past president and active in the Women's Association. She was co-chair of the St. Joseph's Christmas Bazaar, member of the Monday evening prayer group and had an adoration hour. She was also very active in other committees and organizations at the church. She was an annual participant in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. She was very involved in her children's activities as they were growing up. Sharon enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She is survived by four children: Robert Stokes and wife Kristina of Whidbey Island, Washington, Adam Stokes of Denton, Texas, Sara Cover and husband Tommy of Long Beach, California, and Brian Stokes of Jefferson City; her father: Francis Joseph Heet Sr. of Holts Summit; three brothers: Frank Heet Jr. and wife Nene of California, Rick Heet and wife Cheryl of Jefferson City, and Roger Heet and fiancÈe Brenda Boeckman of Holts Summit; one sister: Debbie Curtis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren: Hailey Wyant, Jackson Stokes, Sydney Stokes, Jacey Cover and Garett Cover. She was also preceded in death by her mother: Floretta Jean Heet. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, with Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Vitae Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
