Rosa "Imogene" Clardy, age 82, of Rocky Mount, died Monday, August 23, 2010, on her 82nd birthday. She was born August 23, 1928, in Kaiser, the daughter of the late John Clifford and Rosa Jane Evans Jeffries. She was married on August 9, 1947, in Conway, S.C., to Walter Hugh Moyer Jr. She was later married on May 3, 1980, in Holts Summit, to Eugene Marshall Clardy, who preceded her in death in 1992. Imogene graduated from Barnett High School in 1945, and attended secretarial school in Omaha, Neb. She lived and worked in many places across the country. In 1966, she returned to Missouri and worked for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education until her retirement in 1988. She was a longtime member of the VFW Post 1003 in Jefferson City, and was a past officer. She was a hospice and RACS volunteer in the Jefferson City area for a number of years. Imogene loved walking, reading, dancing, and hugging her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Slanker and husband Todd of Rocky Mount, Melanie Norris and husband Troy of Grain Valley, and Sonjia Grotewiel and husband Bruce of New Bloomfield; granddaughters, Melissa Koonce of Kansas City, Jamee Brandhorst Hubbard and husband Josh of Stevens Point, Wis., and Michele Wagner of Jefferson City; a grandson, Todd Norris of Reed Spring; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Megan Thornhill of New Bloomfield, Scott Thornhill of Holts Summit, Levi and Wyatt Hubbard of Stevens Point, Wis., and Kyle Norris and Jacqueline Norris both of Reed Spring; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Maude Maxcine Brandle. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Thursday, August 26, in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Eldon Nursing and Rehabilitation Activities Fund. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.
