Ruth Hester

Ruth M. Hester, age 84, of Jefferson City, formerly of Russellville, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, with her family by her side. She was born March 21, 1926 in Brazito, the daughter of Ray W. and Viola J. Huff Bainer, both of whom preceded her in death. Ruth was united in marriage in April 1946 in Washington, to Constant Briot, who also preceded her in death. In February 1976, she was married to Claude Odell Hester, he too preceded her in death. She was a member of the Corticelli Baptist Church, and also a member of the Sherwood Neighborhood Club, in Russellville. Ruth was employed with Obear Nester Glass Co. in St. Louis where she retired after 12 years of service. Ruth loved her family very much, she will be sadly missed. Survivors include: two sons, Douglas Briot with his wife Mary of Jefferson City, Mo., and Randy Briot with his wife Rhonda of Russellville, Mo.; two daughters, Gloria Varner of Russellville, Mo., and Sharon Niederbrach with her husband Gary of Staunton, Ill..; two step-sons, Claude (Bert) Hester and Gary Hester; one step-daughter, Stella Morris; one sister, Darlene Morrison of Jefferson City; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Wewerka and Dora Scrivner; 19 grandchildren; 37 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Ruth was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rose Marie Briot; one son, Darrel Briot; one step-daughter, Claudine Simpson; one brother, Clayton Bainer; and one sister, Ladine Hunt. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Corticelli Baptist Church, with Rev. Ryan Stiffler officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Enloe cemetery in Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave. 7th Floor, New York, NY.
