Philip Roos

Mr. Philip D. Roos, age 74 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, August 6, 2010 at St. Mary's Health Center. Philip was born April 13, 1936, in Bloemendaal, Holland. He was married on November 17, 1991, in Jefferson City, to Erika Schmider. Philip served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1986, he was employed as a statistician with the Missouri Division of Mental Health until his retirement in December 1999. He was a member and past president of Temple Beth El. Philip was an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed traveling. Survivors: his wife, Erika Roos; one daughter, Caroline Meeks and her husband Scott of Boston, Mass.; his grandson, Amos Meeks; his beloved step- son, Christian Petke of Oakland, Calif.; one brother, David Roos and his wife Sandy of Los Altos Hills, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Amos Roos. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, August 8, 2010 in the Freeman Chapel with Rabbi Joseph Benson officiating.
