Wilbert Schmoeger

Wilbert J. Schmoeger, age 89, of Russellville, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born July 14, 1921, on the family farm near Russellville, a son of William and Louise Plochberger Schmoeger, both deceased. On August 28, 1946, at the family farm, he was united in marriage to Irene Schock, who preceded him in death October 31, 1995. Wilbert farmed in the Russellville area for most of his life. He was a lifelong, faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville, serving for many years on the church council. He also helped organize and was an original member of the Trinity Lutheran Perpetual Cemetery Board. Wilbert served 25 years on the Community Bank of Russellville Board, holding the office of President for several years. He was also a longtime member of the Farm Bureau and MFA Boards and served for several years on the Russellville Fire Department. His greatest enjoyment came from being on his farm and spending time with his family. Survivors include: six children, William (Judith) Schmoeger of Lee's Summit; Donn (Sheryl) Schmoeger of Russellville; Dwight (Judy) Schmoeger of Jefferson City; John Schmoeger of Russellville; Kathy (Randy) Koestner of Lohman and Brenda Stutte of St.Louis; 11 grandchildren, Vincent (Julie) Schmoeger, Russell (Tracy) Schmoeger, Lindsey (Kevin) Stinson, Tyler Schmoeger, Shannon (Jen) Schmoeger, Stephanie (Dean) Runyan, Alisha and Sarah Koestner, LeAnn (Jeff) Grefenkamp, Jenna (Kenny) Hammond and Meryl Stutte; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by: three sisters, Ruth Haberaecker and Wanda and Edna Schmoeger. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville with Pastor David Carlson officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Russellville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribuntions are to Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. www.scrivner-morrow.com
