Cal Fine, age 31 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, Columbia, Mo., after a long valiant battle with Crohn's disease. Cal was born November 28, 1978, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Camden R. Fine and Jennifer A. Czarlinsky Fine Milne. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Cal was a 1997 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He attended Lincoln University and Central Missouri University. Cal served in the United States Army from 2001 until 2004. Cal loved playing basketball with the Jefferson City AAU, the Jefferson City Jays, and was a member of the United States Army basketball team. He also played Babe Ruth baseball. He loved listening to music and watching movies. Most importantly, Cal loved spending time with his children and his family and friends. Survivors include: his mother and step-father, Jennifer and Erwin Milne of Jefferson City, Mo.; his father and step-mother, Camden and Debra Fine of McLean, Va.; his wife, Corinn Herrigon Fine; his son, Henry Edward Hockaday Fine; his daughter, Sophia Cerese Veronica Fine; his step-son, Bruno Alessandro Puleo; four sisters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Dudenhoeffer and her husband Mark of Jefferson City, Mo.; Jordan Milne of Jefferson City, Mo., Brendan Milne of Jefferson City, Mo., and Abigail Fine of McLean, Va.; and three nephews, Hayden, Benjamin and Jack. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Joanne Czarlinsky and Lee C. and Patricia Fine; and his great-grandparents, Colonel E.I. "Mike" and Cerese Hockaday. Visitation will be at the First United Methodist Church from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 2, 2010. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Daniel Hilty officiating. Military honors will be conducted immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fine Children Educational Fund.
