Robert Thomas Gilbreth, 83, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in Jefferson City. He was born on August 10, 1926, in Joplin, Mo., the son of the late Roy Love and Agnes Genevieve Kelly Gilbreth. He was married on Oct. 27, 1951, in Joplin, Mo., to Genevieve Cecilia Bauman who survives at the home. A resident of Jefferson City since 1951, Mr. Gilbreth graduated from St. Peter High School in Joplin; received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri in Columbia; and was employed at the Missouri Dept. of Transportation for 42 years, retiring in 1991 as Coordinator of Accounts. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Jefferson City; past president of the Holy Name Society at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; life member and Past Grand Knight of Helias Council No. 1054, Knights of Columbus; life member of Dan C. Coppin Fourth Degree Assembly, Knights of Columbus; University of Missouri Alumni Association; and Missouri Highway Department (MODOT) Retirement Association. Mr. Gilbreth served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1947, aboard the USS Barnes CVE 20 (Aircraft Carrier). Other survivors include four daughters, Elizabeth Beach, Jefferson City; Meryl (Thomas) Antweiler, Jefferson City; Stephanie (Alan) Ward, Jefferson City; and Susan "Sue" (Mike) Reed, Jefferson City; two sons, Robert (Jo) Gilbreth II, Denver, Colo.; and Mike Gilbreth, Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Patricia Roche, Salina, Kan.; and two brothers, James (Patty) Gilbreth, Webb City, Mo.; and David (Sue) Gilbreth, Joplin, Mo. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Deene Newby, Frances Burr, and Ruth Johnson; and one brother, William Gilbreth. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Peter Church Building Fund, 216 Broadway, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101; or Samaritan Center, 1310 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
