William Edward Register Jr., 73, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born December 5, 1936, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of the late William Edward and Venita Florence (Toebben) Register. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Peter High School in Jefferson City. On February 11, 1956, he was united in marriage in Jefferson City, to Carol Jo Fisher, who preceded him in death in 1999. On November 23, 2002, he was united in marriage in Jefferson City, to Donna Jo Coleman, who survives at their home. Mr. Register worked in beverage sales for Dr. Pepper/7-Up Bottling Company from 1955 - 1972, and Fechtel Beverage Company of Sedalia from 1972 - 1984. He later worked for AAA Mailing Service Company, where he retired in 2008. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City; a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus; a member of Sacred Heart School Board and Booster Club in Sedalia; served on the Sedalia Parks & Recreation Board; and was co-founder of Capital Speedway. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid race fan, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and dance. He is also survived by two sons: Mark Register (wife Julie) of Sedalia; Shane Bowman (wife Beth) of Jefferson City; four daughters: Shelly Register of Reno, Nev.; Lisa Kelley (husband Johnny) of Birmingham, Ala.; Kim Kleindienst (husband John) of Jefferson City; Jo Lynn Turley (husband Randy) of Sedalia; one brother: Marvin Register (wife Barbara) of Jefferson City; three sisters-in-law: Linda Hickman of Broomfield, Colo.; Karen Coleman of Jefferson City; Sandy Coleman of Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: James Joseph Register; one brother-in-law: Kenny Coleman; and one nephew: Scott Register. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., with Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Friends will also be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Sacred Heart School Gym in Sedalia, Missouri; where Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., with Fr. Jim Betzen officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia, Missouri.
