William Gibler (Veteran)

William Richard Gibler, age 75, of Jefferson City, died Friday, April 23, 2010, at the Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility in Jefferson City. He was born July 8, 1934, in Jefferson City, a son of Orval O. and Dorothy M. Kleindienst Gibler. On March 28, 1954, in Jefferson City, he was united in marriage to F. Jean Amend and she survives at their home. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1963. He received commendations for Sharpshooter (Rifle), along with the Parachutists Badge and the Expert Infantry Badge. From 1967-1984, he was employed with McMenamy Dredging Company in St. Charles and from 1986-1989, with Grants Construction Company in St. Louis. In 1990, he went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Local 513 in St. Louis. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing pool and watching NASCAR. In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by his mother, Dorothy Gibler of Jefferson City; three children and their spouses, Lisa D. and Jeff Williams of California; Timothy J. and Debbie Gibler and Thomas W. and Dana Gibler, all of Jefferson City; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Belva Lee and Kenneth Hackman and Shelby Jean Brown, all of Jefferson City; and 12 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville with Rev Jim Gearhart officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated.
