Rev. Elmer Galbreath Sr.

Rev. Elmer G. Galbreath Sr., 78, of Kansas City, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on February 27, 1932, in Fulton, Missouri, the son of the late Rev. William Howard and Virginia Johnson Galbreath. He was united in marriage on March 6, 1953, in Jefferson City, to Gloria J. Williams, who preceded him in death. On February 24, 2007, in Kansas City, he married Teresa D. Dixon, who survives at the home. He was a 1951 graduate of Lincoln Lab School, where he was a member of the National Honors Society. He later attended Lincoln University. Rev. Galbreath was currently employed with Victoria Arms Apartments until his death. He was previously employed with Chesebrough-Ponds, Lincoln University, Scholastic Inc., First Impressions Day Care Center, House of Representatives at the State Capitol, Capital Theatres, and held numerous part-time jobs. His hobbies included working with electronics, automobiles, computers, and ham radio. He was a member of the Second Christian Church in Jefferson City, and later joined Swope Parkway United Christian Church when he moved to Kansas City. Other survivors include: one brother: Donald Galbreath of San Diego, Calif.; five sons: Richard Williams of Holts Summit; Dennis Galbreath of Kansas City, Mo.; William Galbreath of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Elmer Galbreath Jr. of Jefferson City; and Kelly Galbreath of Bismarck, Mo.; seven daughters: Rhonda Enzinna of Kansas City, Mo.; Janet Khaleel, Karen Turner, Patsy Johnson, Debra Bradford, all of Jefferson City; Sandy Hamilton of Killeen, Texas; Marilynn Galbreath of Greenwood, South Carolina; five step-children: Carmen Gray, Ronette Hargrove, both of Kansas City, Mo.; Kim Adams of Olathe, Kan.; Scott Hargrove of Castro Valley, Calif.; Vincent Hargrove of Dallas, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; one son: Stephan Galbreath; and two grandchildren: Justin and Sylvester Bradford. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, at the Second Christian Church, 703 East Dunklin Street; Jefferson City, Mo., where Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Longview Cemetery. A memorial service will also be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010, at the Victoria Arms Apartments, 6311 Woodland Avenue, Kansas City, Mo.
