R.G. Haynes, 68, of Etterville, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010, in Springfield. He was born January 12, 1942, the son of Robert Gerald and Ila Mildred (Dawson) Haynes, in Miller County. He was united in marriage September 14, 1963, to Sherry Houston in Etterville. He lived on the same farm that was the homestead of his great-grandparents. Gene was a cow trader and owned and ran the Lebanon Livestock Auction in Lebanon. Gene was a second generation auctioneer, and member of the Spring Garden Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife: Sherry of the home; son and daughter-in-law: Robert and Amanda Haynes of Eldon; grandchildren: Bobby and Ila Haynes; three brothers: Jim Haynes of Springfield, John Haynes of Jefferson City, and David Haynes of Chesterfield; one sister: Becky McDonald of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon with Minister Walter Howrey officiating. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery in Russellville. Memorials are suggested to Enloe Cemetery.
