Mary Margaret Blair Hayes, 76, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, peacefully in St. Louis, of complications due to Parkinson's Disease. Mary Margaret was the daughter of the late Missouri Governor James T. Blair Jr. and his wife Emilie; dear niece of the late Leland and Mary Hazard of Pittsburgh, Penn., and former wife of W. Alfred Hayes Jr. and the late Winston Cook. She is the beloved mother of Blair Cook Sage (Gregg), Laura Cook Boldt (Tom) and the late Julia Winston Cook; she is the loving "Granny" of Sam Brune, Tim Sage, Tommy Boldt, Winston Boldt, Peter Boldt and Billy Boldt; sister of James T. Blair III (Myrna). Mary Margaret was born January 13, 1934, in Jefferson City, Mo., and attended Jefferson City High School and Northwestern University. She and her late husband Winston Cook moved to St. Louis in 1954. Mary Margaret was passionate about education and travel. She was a beloved teacher who possessed a quick wit and much admired sense of style. Her wish for all those she loved so dearly was to spread joy through laughter. Mary Margaret will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched. Mary Margaret's body has been donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, April 20 from 4-7 p.m. at Old Warson Country Club, 9841 Old Warson Road, Ladue.
