Philip Lynn Gaffke, 62, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at his home. He was born October 7, 1947, in Jefferson City. Philip was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson City High School and also attended Lincoln University. Philip served in the United States Navy. He currently was a grant writer and free lance writer. He also worked for the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and the Greater St. Louis Automotive Association. He was an avid golfer and loved reading and writing. He is survived by one son: Andrew Gaffke of Holts Summit; one daughter: Adrienne Gaffke of San Clemente, California; his mother: Betty Gaffke of Jefferson City; three grandchildren: James Wieberg, William Wieberg, and Taylor Gaffke; one half-sister: Janet Gaffke of Jefferson City; two step-brothers: Dennis Gaffke (Peggy) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Greg Gaffke (Stephanie) of Jefferson City; and one step-sister: Linda Evert (Darrell) of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his step father: Howard Gaffke. Friends will be received from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. today, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, where a prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 16, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, with Father J. David Maher officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of the family's choice.
