Jerome W. Vogel Sr., 86, of St. Louis, formerly of the Jefferson City, died Sunday, April 12, 2010, peacefully at his home. Jerome left the Jefferson City area to join the Seminary at the age of 16. But in 1942, he heard a different calling and joined the Army to serve during World War II. He served as a Staff Sgt. in the Quartermaster Corp. in France, Belgium, and Germany till the end of the war. After an honorable discharge, he used the G.I. Bill to attain an accounting degree from St. Louis University. He worked as a C.P.A. professionally until his retirement, the last 20 years as C.F.O. for Didion & Sons Foundries. A parishioner of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Webster Groves since 1963, he was a tireless volunteer for the Church and his favorite charitable organization, St. Vincent de Paul Society. Beloved husband of the late Eileen Vogel (nee Mulligan); cherished father of Jerry (Elizabeth) Vogel Jr., Rick (Susan) Vogel, Lisa (Denny) Galati, Joan (Robert) Kruger, and Marie (Larry) Kohrmann; loving grandfather of 15; great-grandfather of four, and great-great-grandfather of two; dear brother of Mildred Oviatt, Velma Leary, and Sr., Claranne Vogel, S.S.N.D., and the late Fred Vogel Jr., Arthur Vogel Sr., Gerald Vogel, Cornelia Vogel, and Dorothy Vogel. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at Bopp Chapel 10160 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood, MO and Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 676 W. Lockwood Blvd., Webster Groves, MO at 10:00 a.m. Mass. Internment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, at Bopp Chapel in St. Louis. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Queen of Peace Conference, St. Vincent de Paul Society.
