Edgar J. "Toots" Schulte, 89, Jefferson City, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born January 22, 1921, in Jefferson City, a son of Joseph and Emma Eveler Schulte. He was united in marriage on June 10, 1950, in Jefferson City to Mary L. Kliethermes, who survives at their home. Mr. Schulte was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in World War II. He had been employed at International Shoe Company, the Missouri Supreme Court, Shyrack Hirst, and retired from the City of Jefferson Public Works Department after 20 years of service. Mr. Schulte was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and American Legion Post 5. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting, and played baseball and softball for many years. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and telling jokes with his friends and coffee buddies. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Caudle of Jefferson City; one son, Donald J. Schulte and wife Stacy of Jefferson City; three grandchildren: Brad Caudle and wife Diane, Chris Caudle and wife Jeanine, and Michael Schulte, all of Jefferson City; and four great-grandchildren: Olga Bulgarova, Brandy Meyer, Keirah Taylor and Kaiden Caudle. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Lester "Chub" Schulte, Norb Schulte, Donald Schulte, David Schulte; and one sister, Loretta Schulte. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Brendan Doyle officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W.
