Evan "Deige" James Schaffer, 20, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Evan was born December 26, 1989, in Jefferson City, a son of Danny Schaffer and Rita Fritchey Robertson. Evan attended Jefferson City Public Schools until he moved to Eugene his senior year and then graduated from Eugene High School. He previously worked at Schulte's IGA, Scholastics and Colton's Steakhouse. He was currently employed with Hy-Vee. In his spare time he loved to ride his skateboard, getting on MySpace and Facebook where his friends knew him as "Easy Bake Evan". Evan was the proud godparent for his sister Olivia and his niece Hailey. He is survived by his mother and step-father: Rita and Jim Robertson of Eugene; his father and step-mother: Danny and Nancy Schaffer of Jefferson City; one brother: Tyler Schaffer and his wife Veronica of Tacoma, Washington; three sisters: Heather "Nikki" Robertson of Eugene, Paige and Olivia Schaffer of Jefferson City; his paternal grandparents: Harold and Betty Schaffer of Ivy Bend; maternal grandparents: Bob and Judy Fritchey of Eugene; and one niece: Hailey Schaffer of Tacoma, Washington. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 16, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Msgr. Donald Lammers officiating. Interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery.
