Don Hinkle (Veteran)

Don E. Hinkle, age 73, of Holts Summit, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. Don was born June 10, 1936, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a son to the late Robert A. and Phronie E. (Gregory) Hinkle. On September 20, 1993, he was united in marriage to Karen Gregory in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. She survives of the home. Don was a retired salesman for Acme Boot Company where he worked for a number of years. He was an avid storyteller and enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers. Don was a U.S. Army Veteran and a pilot. In addition to his wife, survivors include one step-son: Wayne and his wife Sheila Cantrell of Troy; two step-daughters: Dana Poindexter and her husband Tarry of Tuscola, Illinois, and Lisa Elliott and her husband Kevin of Ironton; two daughters: Carol Hinkle of St. Louis and Amy Hinkle of St. Charles; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and his mother-in-law: Edna Gregory of Linn. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by one brother: Randy Hinkle. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
