M.S. Cross Country: Linn Invitational

LINN - The Thomas Jefferson boys and girls won the team titles Saturday at the Linn Invitational at Linn Athletic Complex.

The boys posted 65 points, followed by Fulton (133), Blair Oaks (136), Owensville (169) and School of the Osage (192).

Braden Voss of Thomas Jefferson won the individual title with a time of 9:19.17 on the 2,500-meter course out of 173 runners. Ethan Demarest (seventh, 9:37.30), Brock Schofield (16th, 10:13.93) and Peyton Vogt (20th, 10:28.31) also medaled for Thomas Jefferson.

Blair Oaks' top-3 runners finished just outside the top 20. Luke Northweather took 21st place in 10:30.37, followed by Nick Stover and Garrett Horn in 22nd and 23rd place, respectively.

The Lewis and Clark boys finished 14th with 334 points. Dylan Dyer had the team's top time, taking 48th place in 11:05.76.

Other area medalists in the top 20 for the boys race include Russellville's Arjay Wilson (fourth, 9:27.51), New Bloomfield's Nathan Heinrichs (sixth, 9:35.69), Osage's Will Faulconer (eighth, 9:44.20) and Linn's Bryer Baker (14th, 10:08.23).

Mikaela Lemelin of New Bloomfield won the individual title in the girls race, crossing the finish line in 10:37.76 to win by more than 25 seconds. Linn's Myra Baker was runner-up in 11:05.80.

Thomas Jefferson won the girls team title with 64 points, followed by New Bloomfield (76), Southern Boone (108), Eldon (116) and Osage (153) to round out the top five.

Like the boys, the Thomas Jefferson girls had four medalists in the top 20: Alyson Linhardt (sixth, 11:22.14), Yumia Robben (10th, 11:26.62), Carrington Stilabower (13th, 11:30.49) and Elizabeth Dunn (20th, 11:49.06).

The Lewis and Clark girls were 13th in the team standings with 317 points. Sophia Bruce led the way with a 56th-place finish in 13:05.21.

Other top area finishers include Eldon's Jo Markovitz (seventh, 11:22.50), Fatima's Rachel Woehr (ninth, 11:25.26), Osage's Madison Kessler (15th, 11:33.47), Blair Oaks' Ansley Casey (18th, 11:38.59) and New Bloomfield's Abby Baxter (19th, 11:43.67).
