Prep Volleyball: Lady Jays third at Hillcrest Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays beat Webb City 28-26, 19-25, 25-16 on Saturday in the third-place match of the Hillcrest Tournament.

Annabelle Maassen and Kayla Walters each reached double-digit kills in the match. Maassen finished with 13 kills and 20 digs. Walters had 10 kills and five digs. Paige Reeser tallied 32 assists.

In pool play, Jefferson City defeated Joplin 25-11, split with Webb City 21-15, 25-21 and fell to Willard 25-22, 25-17.

Jefferson City defeated Sedalia Sacred Heart 25-15, 25-18 to begin bracket play, but fell 25-21, 25-21 to Willard in the semifinals.

Maassen recorded seven kills against Joplin, 10 kills against Webb City, eight kills and eight digs against Willard in pool play, 12 kills against Sacred Heart and eight kills in the semifinal match against Willard.

Reeser tallied 122 assists during the tournament.

Walter had eight kills against Joplin while Rylie Bohanan had eight digs in the match.

Jefferson City (7-5-1) hosts Battle on Tuesday. The freshman match will start at 4:30 p.m. with the JV playing at about 5:30 p.m. and the varsity beginning around 6:30 p.m.
