Nurski, Jungbluth advance to final in Missouri Amateur

CAPE GIRARDEAU - It will be an all St. Joseph final to decide the 111th Missouri Amateur title today.

Brad Nurski and Brooks Jungbuth advanced to today's 36-hole championship match by winning their quarterfinal and semifinal matches Saturday at Dalhousie Golf Course.

Nurski, the defending champion who also won the title in 2010, defeated Brevin Giebler of Cape Girardeau 2&1 in his quarterfinal match. Giebler, the Dalhousie club champion, was 3-up after four holes before Nurski rallied to win.

Nurski then posted a 3&2 victory against Reilly Ahearn of St. Louis in the semifinals.

Jungbluth moved to the semifinals with a 4&2 victory against Joseph Williams of St. Louis before posting a 5&4 victory against Chris Kovach of St. Louis in the semifinals.

Nurski and Jungbluth are both members of St. Joseph Country Club and graduates of Bishop LeBlond High School. At age 18, Jungbluth is one of the youngest finalists in the history of the Missouri Amateur. He won the Class 2 individual state title last month.

The championship match will begin at 9 a.m.
