Franks finishes fifth at Stroke Play

OZARK - Kory Franks shot a two-round total of 141 on Thursday to finish fifth in the Missouri Men's Stroke Play Championship.

The Jefferson City golfer entered the final day at 143 before carding a 72 in the morning and a 69 in the afternoon to finish at 284.

Christopher Obert of Ozark claimed the title, shooting a 68 in the afternoon to rally for the win with a four-round total of 279. That was one stroke better than Nick Westrich of Farmington, while the Springfield duo of Dylan Bekemeier and John Fuchs tied for third at 283.

Nathan Erickson of Jefferson City shot a pair of 75s on Thursday and finished in a tie for 41st with a 302.

A total of 53 golfers made the cut after single rounds played Tuesday and Wednesday in the event hosted by the Missouri Golf Association.
