Lincoln softball swept at Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers were swept in a doubleheader Friday, losing 7-0 in game one and 6-1 in game two against Washburn in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.

Washburn pitcher Kelsee Henry was one out from pitching a no-hitter in the first game, but Lincoln's Jordan Lawson ended the bid with a two-out double to right-center field in the top of the seventh inning for the Blue Tigers' only hit.

Madison Ragar was the losing pitcher, giving up seven runs (six earned) on 12 hits with two walks in 51/3 innings. Lawson closed the sixth inning, allowing one hit.

Jordan Erickson and Lexie Myers each had three RBI for the Ichabods.

Washburn (15-22, 3-7 MIAA) held a 2-0 lead after one inning in game two, but Lincoln answered with a run in the top of the second. Lauren Morrow (Helias High School) drove in Macie Kinsey to make the score 2-1.

The Ichabods stretched their lead with a three-run homer by Erica Harper in the fifth and a solo shot by Lacie Myers in the sixth. Washburn's two runs in the first inning were also scored via home run by Savannah Moore.

Lawson had both Lincoln hits, going 2-for-3 with a single and a double.

Sarah Westhoff took the loss, allowing six runs on six hits with one walk and four strikeouts in six innings.

Lincoln (3-21, 0-4 MIAA) will return to action today at Emporia State. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
