ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois' Nicole Martin was named to the All-Freshman Team by the Missouri Valley Conference, the league announced Wednesday.
Martin (Jefferson City High School) was one of five freshmen in the conference who were honored on the team.
During the regular season, Martin was fourth on the Salukis, averaging 6.7 points per game. She was also third on the team in rebounding (5.2).
Southern Illinois (16-13), the No. 4 seed in the MVC Tournament, will face Wichita State at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Moline, Ill.
