ST. JOSEPH - Gabe Trowbridge of Jefferson City has advanced to the second round of match play in the Missouri amateur Championship at St. Joseph Country Club.
Trowbridge was seeded 44th after two rounds of stroke play, but defeated John Fuchs, seeded 21st, 6 and 5 on Thursday in the first round of match play.
Trowbridge had his lone birdie at No. 10 and recorded par on the other 12 holes they played.
Trowbridge will face Kaden Macha of Iola, Kan., this morning in the second round. The winner will advance to play in the round of 16 this afternoon.
Macha defeated Jefferson City's Gerald Siemons in 23 holes Thursday.
