Renegades fall at Nevada

NEVADA, Mo. - The Jefferson City Renegades hope Saturday night's game at Nevada wasn't a playoff preview.

The Griffons used three doubles, two walks and a single to score five runs in the first inning of what ended up being a 15-0 victory.

The teams will face each other Wednesday in Nevada in the first round of the MINK League Playoffs. The winner will play at Ozark on Thursday.

Nevada only went scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings Saturday. The Griffons scored one in the second, third and fifth, three in the fourth and four in the eighth.

Nick Kreutzer sent a two-run homer over the wall while Noah Menchaca had a solo shot in the fourth.

Tyler Cunningham and Jordan Smith combined for six of the Renegades' eight hits.

Jefferson City stranded six runners in scoring position.

Anthony Green took the loss, pitching the first 3 1/3 innings. Cody Roth threw 1 2/3 innings before Ben Fugitt, Cody Creed and Hunter Swift each pitched an inning.

Riley Ulery earned the win with three innings of relief on the mound.

Jefferson City will host the Cassville Arrows for a non-league doubleheader tonight. The first game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

The Renegades will close out the regular season Monday with a doubleheader against Ozark.
