Renegades blanked on the road

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Jefferson City Renegades had no answer for Osvaldo Raya on Friday night.

The right-hander for St. Joseph struck out 10 while only walking two and allowing four hits in seven innings of work to lead the Mustangs to an 8-0 win.

Two of Jefferson City's hits came in the third when Ty Roseberry and Avery Jennings hit back-to-back singles. Cole Evans flew out to center field and Mike Million hit a popup to third to strand the runners.

The Renegades could only get a runner past first base once more the rest of the way.

Hunter Southerland drew a one-out walk in the ninth and advanced to second on Nolan Sachse's single. Sachse finished 2-for-4. A fielder's choice and flyout ended the game.

Nikko Pablo and Jake Purl each pitched an inning of relief for St. Joseph.

The Mustangs scored one run in the first, fifth and eighth innings, while tallying three in the third and two in the seventh. Seven Mustangs recorded an RBI.

Anthony Green took the loss for Jefferson City, allowing four runs in three innings. He gave up three hits, walked five and struck out two.

Jefferson City is 13-20 in MINK League play, seven games behind South Division leading Ozark (20-13). Nevada is second in the division at 18-17.

The Renegades and the North Division leading Mustangs (22-10) will play the finale of their three-game series at 7 p.m. today.
