BELLE - Kaden Helsel scored a game-high 34 points and the South Callaway Bulldogs survived a back-and-forth battle for a 61-58 win against Wright County Homeschool on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Belle Tournament.
The Bulldogs trailed 16-15 after one quarter, then led 30-29 at halftime. Wright County Homeschool retook the lead at 44-41 entering the fourth quarter.
Helsel has scored 30 or more points in three straight games for South Callaway. Dylan Lepper added 11 points, making a pair of 3-pointers and a pair of free throws late in the game. Blake Parker also finished with 10 points.
South Callaway (4-10), the No. 4 seed in the tournament, will face second-seeded Chamois in the championship game at 8 p.m. today.
