STURGEON, Mo. - The Eugene Eagles used a strong start in the first quarter en route to a 62-46 win Thursday against the New Bloomfield Wildcats in the semifinals of the Class 2 District 8 Tournament.
Eugene took a 19-8 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 32-14 by halftime. New Bloomfield won the scoring battle in the third quarter 17-14 to trim its deficit to 46-31 entering the fourth quarter.
Austin Engelbrecht led Eugene with a game-high 19 points. Jacob Adrian finished with 12 points and Austin Dickey scored 11 points.
For New Bloomfield, which ends the season with a 16-11 record, Jak Kitchens had a game-high 18 points.
Eugene (21-6), the No. 1 seed in the tournament, will face second-seeded Harrisburg (19-8) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
