Boys Basketball: California upsets top-seeded Boonville

VERSAILLES - The California Pintos lost their two meetings during the regular season to the Boonville Pirates, but the Pintos got their revenge Thursday with a 65-60 win in the semifinals of the Class 3 District 13 Tournament.

Boonville, the tournament's No. 1 seed, was ahead 17-15 after one quarter, but California took a 32-30 lead into halftime. The Pirates retook the lead 51-49 entering the fourth quarter, but the Pintos held their opponent to nine points in the fourth quarter.

Isaac Ash led California with 22 points and Jacob Wolken added 17 points. Wolken scored a 3-point play in the closing minute to give the Pintos the lead for good.

California (11-14), the No. 4 seed, will face third-seeded Cole Camp (21-6) in the championship game at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Cole Camp won Thursday's other semifinal game 76-57 against the Versailles Tigers, who end their season with a 12-15 record.
