Lincoln softball swept in home doubleheader

The Lincoln Blue Tigers dropped both games of a doubleheader Tuesday in their home opener, losing 11-5 and 7-0 against Truman State.

Lincoln held a 2-1 lead after the first inning of game one. Kiley Kerr stole home on a double steal and Tori Nienhueser followed with an RBI single to give the Blue Tigers the lead.

Truman State responded with four runs in the second and five more in the fifth to lead 10-2. Lincoln added one run in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Kerr and Mykenzie Livesay each had a pair of singles. All nine Lincoln players in the batting order collected at least one hit.

Sarah Westhoff was the losing pitcher, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits in 42/3 innings.

In game two, Truman State scored two runs in the second before exploding for five runs in the sixth.

The game was called in the top of the seventh due to darkness.

Westhoff had the only hit for the Blue Tigers, a single in the fourth inning. Macie Kinsey took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits to go with five walks and one strikeout in 51/3 innings.

Lincoln (0-8) will host Maryville on Saturday. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
