Lincoln announces 2017 football schedule

The Lincoln Blue Tigers unveiled their 2017 football schedule Tuesday.

Lincoln will open the season on the road Sept. 2 against Langston. The Blue Tigers will hold their home opener Sept. 9 against Lincoln (Pa.), with kickoff set for 6 p.m. at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

The Blue Tigers will also play a nonconference game Oct. 7 at Albany (Ga.) State, where Lincoln head coach Steven Smith served as an assistant coach before he was hired by the Blue Tigers last December.

As for the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule, Lincoln will host Truman State (Sept. 23), Missouri S&T (Oct. 14), Indianapolis (Oct. 21) and William Jewell (Nov. 4).

The Blue Tigers' conference road games consist of Quincy (Sept. 16), McKendree (Oct. 28) and Southwest Baptist (Nov. 11).

Homecoming will be against Truman State, with kickoff slated for 2 p.m.

Lincoln currently has a 10-game schedule with seven conference games. Saint Joseph's, currently a member of the GLVC, is closing after the 2016-17 school year, which dropped the Blue Tigers down from 11 games this past season.
