Girls Basketball: St. Elizabeth 58, Eugene 53

ST. ELIZABETH, Mo. - The St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets built a 13-point halftime lead Tuesday and did enough to hold on for a 58-53 win against the Eugene Lady Eagles in Show-Me Conference play.

St. Elizabeth led 12-4 after one quarter and 32-19 at halftime. Eugene outscored the Lady Hornets 14-12 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 44-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

Brooke Struemph recorded her 14th double-double of the season, leading St. Elizabeth with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Shanley Kliethermes also had 15 points.

For Eugene, Lexi Dickerson scored a game-high 24 points and Nicole Koetting finished with 12 points.

St. Elizabeth (14-9, 4-3 Show-Me) will host New Bloomfield on Thursday. Eugene (14-10, 3-4 Show-Me) hosts Chamois on Thursday to wrap up its regular season.

Eugene won the two-quarter JV game 25-16.
