MU splits twinbill in softball

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Missouri Tigers opened the softball season Friday by splitting a doubleheader.

Missouri managed just two hits in a 6-0 loss to James Madison in the opener before coming back to top Charleston Southern 4-3 in the nightcap.

Danielle Baumgartner took the loss in the first game, allowing two runs on six hits in 31/3 innings. Madi Norman (Tipton High School) made her Missouri debut in relief, allowing four runs on four hits in two innings while recording three strikeouts.

Norman got the win in relief in the second game. She worked the final 31/3 innings, giving up just one hit and striking out three.

Jolie Duffner (Blair Oaks High School) drove in a run for the Tigers in the game.
