Missouri baseball loses to Missouri St.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri dropped its game to in-state rival Missouri State 5-3 on Tuesday night at Taylor Stadium.

Connor Brumfield opened the scoring when he scored on a Brett Bond foul out in the bottom of the first, but Missouri State took a 3-1 lead on an RBI double in the top of second and two-run home run in the top of the third. Nelson Mompierre and Robbie Glendinning tied it in the bottom of the third with a pair of RBI singles.

Missouri State loaded the bases in the top of the eighth and scored a pair of runs on a Brian Sharp throwing error to give the Bears the 5-3 edge.

Andy Toelken (2-2) took the loss after going 71/3 innings and giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks with six strikeouts. Glendinning and Kirby McGuire each went 2-for-4, and Brumfield went 2-for-5. Glendinning and Kameron Misner each had doubles for the Tigers, who struck out 10 times as a team.

Missouri (26-12, 7-8 Southeastern Conference) plays Friday at Mississippi.
