Local Martial Artists compete in Battle of Atlanta World Karate Championship

Five members of the Art of Martial Arts Dojo in Jefferson City placed in the Battle of Atlanta World Karate Championship on June 18. Two members, Haylie Bell and Sierra Luttrell, won first place trophies.

Bell placed first in the 10-11 beginner girls weaopns and first in 10-11 beginner girls kata. Lututrell won the 11-12 intermediate girls weapons division. Both advanced to their respective Grand Champion rounds.

Giovanni Cooper took second place in 12-13 boys point sparring and third in 12-13 intermediate boys weapons division. Emma Lister took fourth in 11-12 advanced girls weapons. Clara Scovill placed second in 14-15 advanced girls weapons, third in 14-15 advanced girls kata and fourth in 14-15 advanced girls point sparring.

Sensei Christina Lehmuth was a finalist in womens adult sparring in the black belt division.
