Migdal wins Missouri State Amateur golf championship

Sam Migdal made a three-foot putt on the final hole Sunday, clinching the 109th Missouri State Amateur title with a 1 up victory against Hunter Parrish at Jefferson City Country Club.

Migdal, 24, wins his first Missouri State Amateur title. He also won the NCAA Division II individual title in 2015 at Central Missouri.

The two golfers played a total of 36 holes in the match-play championship. Neither competitor had more than a one-hole lead.

The match was stopped for more than three hours because of a rain delay. Once play resumed, Migdal, from Ballwin, made a 25-foot birdie putt to go 1 up on the 31st hole against Parrish, who is from Washington.

The two halved the final five holes. Parrish had a chance to tie the match, but he missed two birdie putts on the final three holes.
