Former Lady Jay golfer competes at Missouri Amateur

SPRINGFIELD - Brooke Thompson of Jefferson City, finished in a tie for ninth at the Missouri Women's Amateur.

Thompson, a former all-state golfer for the Lady Jays, finished with a 5-over 227 at Twin Oaks Country Club. She shot 77, 75 and 75 for the three-round tournament, which concluded Wednesday.

Thompson had 11 birdies, 29 pars, 12 bogeys and two double bogeys during the tournament. She's entering her sophomore season at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

A former Helias golfer was also in the field of 50. Lauren Plunkett finished tied for 28th with a 25-over 247.

Plunkett finished the tournament with five birdies, 26 pars, 17 bogeys, five double bogeys and a triple bogey. She's entering her freshman season at Drury in Springfield.

Emily Goldenstein of Chesterfield won with an 8-under 214. She shot a 69 in the third round, finishing with six birdies and two eagles.
