Boys Basketball: Eugene 62, Tuscumbia 59

EUGENE - The Eugene Eagles held off a late charge by the Tuscumbia Lions on Thursday night to win 62-59 in the Eugene Tournament.

Austin Engelbrecht led the Eagles with 23 points. Jarret Magers and Mason Kirkweg scored 14 and 12, respectively.

Benton Patterson paced the Lions with 18 points. Michael Diefenbach added 15 points while David Huddleston shipped in 14.

Eugene led 14-10 after the first quarter, 31-26 at halftime and 53-43 after three quarters.

The game was tied at 59 in the final two minutes, but Eugene scored the final three points to win.

Eugene (3-0) will play Blair Oaks at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the championship game.

Tuscumbia will face Osage at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the third-place game.
